Will U.S LNG Provide Energy Security to Germany?
Germany adds new Floating storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) as it expand its LNG import capacity (with 3 charts and a table)
On March 15, the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), Energos Force, arrived at Germany’s port of Stade, as the country continues to expand its LNG import capacity. The arrival of the new FSRU is expected to raise the country’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import capacity by up to 5 billion cubic meters (bcm) per year (bcm/y). The Energos Force is the first floating vessel to be moored in Stade and the fifth floating terminal overall in Germany, all of which have been introduced in the last two years in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This expansion in LNG import capacity demonstrates Germany's commitment to diversifying its gas supply sources by gaining access to the global LNG market.
