Travel through US airports is at record high but jet fuel demand remains weak

Finally, the number of passengers traveling through US airports in 2024 surpassed that of 2019 (Pre-Covid-19) as shown in Figure (1). Here is the problem: US Jet fuel demand has not recovered to 2019 level! It is almost there! See Figure (2).

So far, the average number of passengers in 2024 is higher that of 2019 by 6.1% while US jet fuel demand declined by 2.8%!
