US oil demand has been increasing (Figure 1), but still low given the increase in population, the size of the economy in recent years, and earlier forecasts. The increase in July, especially in gasoline demand (Figure 2), has been questioned by groups that focus on the US gasoline market and follow it closely. Distillate demand remains weak despite recent improvement as shown in Figure (3).
